Happy New Year everyone!

WHIRLWIND DAY

Last month in early December I had the weekend off at my home church – Brookfield Lutheran – where I continue to serve as the interim music director.  What did I do with my weekend off, you ask?  Well, I visited three different churches to assist with various music events.  Perhaps one could say I wanted to make up for lost time…

At the first church, I led three morning worship services with a new service titled “Preparing For Christmas,” which my husband Craig and I designed.  I’ve had a lot of practice in designing worship services the last year, and Craig has some gifts in tying together the messages of Scripture, sermons, and songs. :-)  We make a good team!

After packing up from that morning’s services, I headed down the road to a Ladies Advent Tea Program where I led 130 women in music to prepare our hearts for the Light of the World.  After another hour drive, I arrived at a second Advent Tea for women where I was the featured speaker and musician.  Do you know how much chocolate I could have consumed that day?  For any of you that have attended these kinds of events, you know that Christmas, women, and chocolate just go together!   It was wonderful to get out again to lead some new folks in worship and to sing a few of my original songs, as well as cover Faith Hill’s song “A Baby Changes Everything.”

JESUS PAINTING

One other highlight of the fall was watching Craig step into a new ministry role: a live speed painting of Jesus - during worship at our church.  Check out the video.  Note that for copyright reasons, we changed the songs on the video from what was sung during the actual painting.  You’ll notice the music you hear doesn’t match up with the words my mouth is forming – so part of it kind of looks like bad lip-syncing!

2011

I have agreed to continue serving as interim music director at my church until May.  I will be singing most Sundays – feel free to come and say hello!  When I do get a free weekend, I hope to resume our traveling ministry wherever the Lord will open a door.   What a joy to be on this exciting and unknown journey!
